Jessie Hulsey

Hulsey’s best advice for a new student is to make sure you get involved. “I struggled at Kennesaw because I didn’t join clubs and other social activities.” Currently, Hulsey is the treasurer for the Nutrition Club and the social media and events chair, and it has been really rewarding. Hulsey planned the nutrition fair for National Nutrition Month that was held at LIFE on March 5.

Samantha Silliker

When Floridian Samantha Silliker was looking for a place to obtain her education, she applied to only one school – Life University.

Now at LIFE pursuing a Bachelor of Science Degree in Dietetics, Silliker says that she has always known that she wanted to do something in the healthcare field. As a matter of fact, she originally wanted to go into nursing and even obtained her CNA (certified nursing assistant) certification while in high school.

Jennifer Baugh

After watching family and friends suffer from health problems, Jennifer Baugh’s passion to help was fueled. As she witnessed first-hand the ravages of multiple sclerosis on her mother, her father’s cirrhosis of the liver, a friend’s breast cancer and multiple other family members with diabetes, she knew that she wanted a way of providing them with the help and guidance that could potentially have a very positive effect on their health.

Liliae Funderburk

For Liliae Funderburk, a desire to change her eating habits eventually led to her pursuit of a Dietetics degree here at Life University. During Funderburk’s senior year in high school, she felt constantly tired and struggled with weight issues. She says, “I was not eating in a healthy way at all, so I started doing research to see how I could eat to feel better. Once I discovered fresh foods and stopped eating fast food, I started having more energy.”

Hellen Diaz

Now at Life University pursuing a Bachelor of Science degree in Dietetics, Hellen Diaz has come a long distance from her home of Cartagena, Colombia, by way of Fort Lauderdale, Florida. Graduating next quarter, Diaz plans to pursue a dietetics internship here at the University immediately afterward.

Kelli Yates

Kelli Yates, who is currently studying Dietetics here at Life University, changed her mind about her career a few times before coming to LIFE. After high school, Yates started a degree in photography at the Art Institute of Atlanta but moved on to an associate degree in veterinary science while working as a veterinary technician for five years. Next came a foray into personal training before finally settling on dietetics.

Demaris Hunger

Demaris Hunger’s choice to study Dietetics at Life University was a winding road, both culturally and academically. “I speak Spanish, German and English, and I was raised in so many different cultural environments that I identify with a lot of them, and that allows me to reach out to more people.”
