About Life University

Founded in Marietta, Georgia in 1974, Life University is a health sciences institution most known for its chiropractic program, the largest single campus chiropractic program in the world. Life University is regionally accredited by the Southern Association of Colleges and Schools Commission on Colleges (SACSCOC) to award baccalaureate, master’s and Doctor of Chiropractic degrees, and also has programmatic accreditation through the Council on Chiropractic Education (CCE), the Accreditation Council for Education in Nutrition and Dietetics (ACEND) and the Commission on Accreditation of Athletic Training Education (CAATE). The mission of Life University is to empower students with the education, skills and values necessary for career success and life fulfillment, based on a vitalistic philosophy.

Life University

Dear Life University Community,

The Board of Trustees of Life University has accepted the resignation of Dr. Rob Scott, who will formally step down as president, effective March 31, 2025, and transition into the role of Associate Vice President of Institutional Initiatives. In this capacity, he will support international initiatives, provide some classroom instruction in the chiropractic curriculum and represent the University in various other capacities.

To lead the University through this period of transition, the Board has recruited Brian McAulay, D.C., Ph.D., to serve as Interim President, effective April 1, 2025. Dr. McAulay has been serving as a consultant to the Board since August 2024 on issues specifically related to the University’s accreditation with the Council on Chiropractic Education (CCE). Beginning January 1, 2025, Dr. McAulay will be on campus to prepare for the formal April 1 transition.

No stranger to Life U, Dr. McAulay was on the original transition team in 2004 to rebuild Life University with Dr. Riekeman to its current splendor. Many of you may remember Dr. McAulay from his years of prior service here as Executive Vice President and Provost from 2004 to 2013, as a previous member of the Board of Trustees, as well as by reputation. He has served in numerous leadership roles for institutions of higher education, including as President of Parker University, Argosy University Dallas and Sherman College of Chiropractic.

Dr. McAulay has chaired 25 Site Teams for the Southern Association of Colleges and Schools Commission on Colleges (SACS/COC), was a Fellow of the American Council on Education (ACE), has served on numerous boards and was president of the Association of Chiropractic Colleges (ACC). He also served as the chief academic officer for the Palmer Colleges, the South University System and Logan University.

I, and the entire Board, believe Dr. McAulay possesses the ideal expertise, experience and temperament to partner with Life U’s stakeholders at this critical juncture. This will enable Dr. McAulay to shepherd the institution through the challenges we face today and position the University to move confidently into the future. Being a proven higher education leader, he is especially well-versed in accreditation matters and is a strong collaborator and communicator who will help ensure the diverse talents within the Life U community are brought to bear in resolving current challenges and setting the stage for renewed growth and success.

“I am excited to come home to the Life University community and to lead the institution during this period as we work together to create the future we know is possible," remarked Dr. McAulay. "The fields of higher education and health care are both changing rapidly, and I believe that creates unique opportunities for Life University to grow and thrive. I very much look forward to working with the entire Life U community toward that end.”

Thanks to all for the words of welcome and support. I'm honored to have been selected by the Board of Trustees to serve as Interim President for Life University. The institution just celebrated our first 50 years -- it's a privilege to be serving in this capacity for the start of the University's second 50 years!

Congratulations to Dr Scott, Dr McAuley, and the Life Board. Wonderful to see a smooth considered transition of leadership.
