One of Life U's newest academic programs, the B.S. in Human Ecology, is one that truly captures the spirit of our University. It explores human beings interdependence with their environments and, when approached vitalistically, also assumes the wisdom of life itself is at work within those environments or systems. It’s a course that also incorporates Lasting Purpose by including a requirement for service, clearly communicating the necessity of giving back to the land and the communities that support us. 

The turnout of faculty, staff and students for the Campus Cleanup event organized by the Human Ecology program and Campus Recreation and Wellness cleared in excess of 50 pounds of trash from the creek, trails and parking lots on our campus. Thanks to all who helped with the cleanup and to Dr. Stephanie Wakefield, who serves as Program Coordinator and Assistant Professor in our Human Ecology Program within the Department of Natural Sciences, as well as the Research Chair within the College of Graduate and Undergraduate Studies.
