-Ribbon-cutting ceremony highlights University’s commitment to preserving chiropractic philosophy for future generations

Marietta, Georgia – September 24, 2026 – Life University (Life U) officially unveiled its comprehensive collection of original Palmer Green Books during a ribbon-cutting ceremony held as part of Life Vision Extravaganza (LVE) 2026, welcoming alumni, friends and members of the chiropractic community to celebrate one of the profession’s most significant historical archives. The collection is housed in the Drs. Sid E. & Nell K. Williams Library and includes a copy of the 1st edition of every volume of the Palmer Green Books, as well as a copy of each additional edition.

The unveiling ceremony provided many of the more than 1,000 alumni and friends attending LVE with their first opportunity to view the collection in person. The gathering served as both a celebration of chiropractic history and a reaffirmation of Life U’s commitment to preserving and advancing the profession’s foundational principles.
Originally acquired through the generosity of dedicated donors and announced earlier this year, the collection represents a significant contribution to the preservation of chiropractic heritage. Beginning with Volume 1 in 1906, which included contributions from B.J. Palmer to his father D.D. Palmer’s work, the Green Books went on to document the evolution of chiropractic philosophy, science and practice. Authored primarily by B.J. Palmer and later by prominent faculty members of the Palmer School of Chiropractic, the volumes are considered among the most influential works in chiropractic history. Among them is Volume 4, The Chiropractic Adjuster: A Compilation of the Writings of D.D. Palmer, published in 1921 and featuring many of D.D. Palmer’s core theoretical and practical writings.
“Today is about more than unveiling a remarkable collection of books,” said Dr. Gilles LaMarche, Vice President of University Advancement at Life University. “It is about honoring the visionaries who helped shape the chiropractic profession and reaffirming our responsibility to preserve that legacy for future generations. We are proud to serve as stewards of this collection and to ensure that its teachings remain accessible to students, alumni, scholars and practitioners.”
The collection’s permanent home within the University’s library reflects Life U’s ongoing dedication to preserving the profession’s rich history. The display also features historical information and exhibits honoring B.J. Palmer, Mabel Palmer and their enduring contributions to Chiropractic.
At Life U, however, preserving chiropractic philosophy extends beyond archives and historical collections.
“Chiropractic philosophy is not something we simply preserve in a library,” Dr. LaMarche said. “It remains an integral part of how we educate future chiropractors. We focus on helping our students graduate practice-ready with a solid foundation in the art, science and philosophy of Chiropractic, coupled with exceptional clinical and business skills. By connecting our profession’s history to modern chiropractic education, we help ensure its principles continue to guide and inspire future generations of practitioners.”
As a leading health sciences institution and home to one of the nation’s largest Doctor of Chiropractic programs, Life U continues to emphasize a vitalistic approach to education while preparing students to succeed in today’s evolving healthcare environment. Through rigorous academic instruction, hands-on clinical experience and a strong philosophical foundation, graduates are equipped to enter practice with the skills and confidence needed to serve their communities.
The official ribbon cutting marked an important milestone in the University’s efforts to preserve chiropractic history while strengthening its role in educating future leaders of the profession.
“The Green Books tell the story of where Chiropractic has been,” Dr. LaMarche added. “By making this collection available to our students, alumni and visitors, we help ensure that the profession’s principles, history and purpose remain a living part of the profession’s future.”
Life University’s comprehensive Palmer Green Book collection is available for viewing in the Drs. Sid E. & Nell K. Williams Library on the University’s campus in Marietta, Georgia.
