DR. STEPHANIE SULLIVAN RECOGNIZED BY NCMIC FOUNDATION AS 2023 McANDREWS AWARD WINNER

Clive, Iowa– March 28, 2023 – The NCMIC Foundation has named four individuals as the 2023 winners of the Jerome F. McAndrews, D.C., Memorial Research Fund Award. One of these awards was presented to Dr. Stephanie Sullivan, Life University (Life U) Director of the Sid E. Williams Center for Chiropractic Research, at the Association of Chiropractic Colleges Educational and Research Agenda Conference (ACC-RAC), held March 23-25, at the Sheraton Hotel in New Orleans, Louisiana.

DRS. JASON AND VANESSA HELFRICH CREATE 100% CHIROPRACTIC SCHOLARSHIP FOR LIFE U D.C. STUDENTS WITH $50,000 ENDOWMENT

Co-Founders of 100% Chiropractic and friends of Life University (Life U) Drs. Jason and Vanessa Helfrich and their team have created an endowed Doctor of Chiropractic (D.C.) student scholarship at Life U with an initial contribution of $50,000 in January 2023. The scholarship is titled the 100% Chiropractic Scholarship and is the largest endowed scholarship in the history of Life U.

Hailing from Arecibo/Barceloneta, Puerto Rico, Ricardo Tossas has fostered an interest in studying a health-related profession from a young age, since playing sports as a kid. In his senior year of high school, he created a student club called Movimiento Estudiantil de Quiropráctica, which promotes chiropractic awareness and education for high school students.

As a small-town girl from Rice Lake, Wisconsin, Courtney Bliese grew up with two brothers, and she described her childhood as happy and “pretty normal.” She attended the University of Minnesota Duluth for her undergraduate, graduating with a degree in Mathematics and a minor in Chemistry. Her chiropractic journey and interest began when she started to experience migraines that led her to seek chiropractic care.

Going into her collegiate years, Olivia Porpora’s initial plan was to continue on to medical school. She studied Exercise Science at the University of Delaware, and while completing her bachelor’s degree, Porpora decided that medical school was not the path she wanted to take because it didn’t align with her personal beliefs on what health care should look like. She had been seeing a chiropractor and “always thought it was a really cool profession.”

From Lockport, Illinois, Cynthia Cardenas grew up with a large family, as her parents both have a fair number of siblings. In fact, Cardenas has three siblings herself. In her future dreams for her professional life, Cardenas has juggled between interests in both Chiropractic and veterinary practice. Cardenas had been exposed to chiropractic care personally since the age of 7, receiving care for sports-related back pain.
