Marietta, Georgia – August 3, 2026 – The Board of Trustees of Life University is proud to announce the election of Sandra Elbaum, D.C., as Chairman of the Board of Trustees, effective July 22, 2026. Dr. Elbaum succeeds Aaron Gagnon, C.P.A., C.I.A., who served as Interim Chairman beginning April 1, 2026, and Kevin Fogarty, D.C., who served as Chairman from July 2015 through March 2026.
As Chairman, Dr. Elbaum will work closely with the Board of Trustees and University leadership to advance Life University’s strategic vision, institutional growth and commitment to academic excellence. A 1990 graduate of Life U, Dr. Elbaum has been in family practice in Chester, Virginia, since 1991 with her husband and fellow Life U graduate, Adam Elbaum, D.C. In addition to serving two terms as president of the Virginia Society of Chiropractic, she has represented numerous chiropractic organizations throughout Virginia and beyond. She currently serves as a Life U P.E.A.K. doctor, State Alumni Representative, LIFEforce member and a member of Life U’s President’s Circle. Dr. Elbaum was named Chiropractor of the Year by the Virginia Society of Chiropractic in both 1999 and 2007.
Dr. Elbaum brings extensive governance and leadership experience to the role, having served on the Life U Board of Trustees for 11 years. During her tenure, she has served as Interim Chair of the International Affairs Committee and the Legislative Affairs Task Force, and as a member of the Academic Affairs, Audit/Finance and International Affairs Committees, as well as the Clinic, Student Experience, Mission and Vision and Vaccination Statement Task Forces.
