Hispanic Heritage Month 2022 at Life U
The national theme for 2022 Hispanic Heritage Month is Unidos- Inclusivity for a Stronger Nation, according to the National Institutes of Health Office of Equity, Diversity and Inclusion. What a fitting sentiment, and one that we strive to work toward at Life University (Life U). National Hispanic Heritage Month begins on September 15 and continues through October 15.
Faces of LIFE- Melissa Castaneda
Melissa Castaneda and her older brother grew up in Grayson, Georgia with their parents who immigrated to America from Mexico before she was born. Castaneda is a first-generation college student, the first of the family to not only go to college but also pursue even higher levels of education as a D.C. student at Life University (Life U).
Best Sleep Positioning for a Better Night’s Sleep
Ever go to bed and wake up feeling just as tired as when you first hit the pillow? Bad sleep posture could be the culprit. In the Foundation for Chiropractic Progress (F4CP) brochure titled “Optimizing Your Sleep Posture For A Better Night’s Rest,” it outlines…
Chiropractic Care Propelling Sports Performance
Competitive sports and chiropractic care go hand in hand. In fact, here at Life University, we commonly encounter students who originally developed an interest in chiropractic as a profession due to care received as high school or collegiate student-athletes. So it’s an interesting concept to consider that consistent chiropractic care might not only offer healing and recovery benefits, but also could contribute to improved sports performance.
Faces of LIFE – Facilities & Grounds
Today we are doing a different type of Faces of LIFE. Normally, we highlight one person, but with Orientation and LIFE Vision Extravaganza this week, we have decided it is most fitting to highlight an entire department. This area is known as the quiet warriors of the Life University (Life U) campus. Who are they? Our Facilities and Grounds team members. Together, these two groups form the department known as Facilities Management.
Reimagining Pain Management with Chiropractic Care and Other Methods
No one likes to live in pain, but many people think that the only possible relief options available to them come in the form of a pill or costly surgeries. Medication and surgical intervention can be helpful, and in some cases necessary, but it is imperative to explore alternative pain management methods as well.
Let’s Grow- Gardening for Food 101
Proper nutrition and understanding of where our food comes from provide a solid foundation for health. Not to mention that gardening is a fun, enriching and relaxing hobby. Here at Life University (Life U), we sponsor many community garden boxes, tended by students and environmentally friendly groups such as Life U’s own GreenLIFE club.
Faces of LIFE- Andre L. Clanton
André L. Clanton, Director of Conflict Resolution and Accountability in Student Affairs, began working at Life U in 2011 before leaving for another opportunity and then returning in 2015. He has been here ever since. A new and important role that Clanton has taken on this year is with the Association of Student Conduct Administration (ASCA) as their Sexual Misconduct & Title IX Chair.
How Life University’s Engage Site Helps Students Engage
There is a secret weapon that student leaders at Life University know quite well, and students who want to be in the know of the latest events around campus familiarize themselves with: Engage. Located at Engage.life.edu, Engage is Life U’s handy and easy-to-use portal letting the Life U community know about organization and club events. The site also allows interested participants to register for events that organizations and clubs have posted.
My First Quarter- Laxmi Shah
Specifically, if you want to get into the D.C. program, you need to know what your ‘Why?’ is. Why do you want to do Chiropractic? What are you going to do with it? What kind of chiropractor do you want to be? What techniques do you want to practice? You really need to know why. If you don’t know your why, you’re not going to be able to push through all of the courses that we have at Life U.
