February 2, 2024 – Atlanta, Georgia – A dedicated group of Life University (Life U) students, staff and alumni attended the 2024 Georgia Chiropractic Association for Chiropractic Day at the Capitol, held at the Georgia State Capitol on Thursday, February 1, 2024.
The purpose of the event was to serve as a friendly brunch and mingle with state legislators in order to discuss with them the value of the chiropractic profession for the state of Georgia. Ideally, the goal was to serve as a reminder that chiropractors and the chiropractic community represent thousands of Georgia voters. Several state legislators of various courts did in fact come to shake hands and learn more about the chiropractic cause.
The Georgia Chiropractic Assocation (GCA) is the state chiropractic association tasked to “promote, represent, educate and protect the entire chiropractic community in Georgia and advocate for unrestricted access to chiropractic care.” (gachiro.org) Life U alumna Dr. Deborah Little currently serves as President of the GCA and enjoyed seeing the turnout of eager Life U students and alumni ready to serve Lasting Purpose at the Capitol.
Political lobbying is one major role that the GCA takes on. Therefore, attendees of the event were asked to locate their regional representative or senator(s) in the building to implore them to consider helping a special bill of GCA’s political action committee (PAC). This bill implores for greater financial transparency between lawyers and chiropractors connected by personal injury cases, as currently there is not enough accountability to make sure the correct funds go to the correct places.
It was truly inspiring to see Life U students, alumni and chiropractors from across the state come together to work toward a unified goal of improved chiropractic practices. Life U continues to support the great work of the GCA and hopes to continue to make meaningful contributions and connections in the larger chiropractic community and profession.
