Marietta, Georgia- July 22, 2025- The Life University Wrestling program continues to set the standard for summer development with its annual Wrestling Lucha Individual Camp, held July 18–19, 2025, in Marietta, Georgia. Welcoming 80 wrestlers from six states across the Southeast, the two-day event featured five action-packed sessions focused on high-level training, technical instruction and team-building experiences that go far beyond the mat.

Designed for athletes in grades 3-12 and incoming college freshmen, the camp delivered a premier experience for both new and returning wrestlers. Wrestlers participated in elite technique sessions led by Men’s Wrestling Head Coach Omi Acosta, Women’s Head Coach and Associate Head Coach Ashley and Christian Flavin, Enock Francois, Diana Shiflett and more from the Life U coaching staff. They also experienced a presentation and discussion on nutrition before engaging in activities that fostered a strong sense of community, competition and growth.

“I’m extremely proud of how our camp system has evolved here at Life U, especially with the support and leadership of Coach Tre Horton,” Acosta said. “A huge thank you to Ashley and Christian Flavin from the Life U Women’s Wrestling team for stepping up and helping make this camp a success. We’re committed to continuing our work with the women’s program to grow our camps, especially on the female side of the sport. It’s always powerful for young girls to see female coaches leading, and that visibility is crucial for the next generation of female wrestlers.”

This year, the Individual Camp featured a guest speaker, Dr. Denise Pickett-Bernard, who works in the Nutrition Department at Life U. When asked about the experience, Dr. Pickett-Bernard said, “I was happy to be able to speak to these young wrestlers at the Life University wrestling camp. This is really a great service for the community and the sport of wrestling overall. Nutrition goes hand in hand with sports, and I believe that it is really important to be able to provide this information to athletes as early as possible in their career.”

Coach Tre Horton had a few things to say about the nutrition presentation at camp as well. “We are so thankful to have had Dr. Denise Pickett-Bernard come out for camp,” Horton said. “Being able to invest in our campers holistically on and off the mat is a large part of the mission of our camps.”

From start to finish, the energy was undeniable. Athletes from across the Southeast brought their best, pushing themselves and one another throughout the sessions. The presence of top-tier coaches and role models helped reinforce the camp’s mission: to build not just great wrestlers, but great people, on and off the mat.

The success of this year’s Individual Camp adds momentum to Life U Wrestling’s continued expansion of its summer and seasonal offerings. The program remains committed to delivering opportunities for all athletes, from youth to college-bound, to learn, grow and compete at the highest level.
