What is your name, the degree you are pursuing and the quarter you started at Life University (LIFE)?

My name is Victoria Petruzzella, and I am pursuing a Doctor of Chiropractic (D.C.). I started at Life University in Summer Quarter 2018.

What made your first quarter at LIFE so memorable?
Trying out different clubs and trying to find where I belong, because that is part of who I am now. And also, even if I don’t go to other clubs too, I’ve made a lot of friends in other clubs as well, so that’s like my biggest take. And I know it’s really hard for first quarter students now, because we’re not actually on campus and can’t meet people face to face, but once we do get back on campus, I’m sure there’s going to be so many opportunities and people are going to be craving human interaction and relationships, so I’m sure it won’t be a problem when the first quarters get back now.

What surprised you during your first quarter at LIFE?
How difficult it was to get acclimated. It took a lot of trust in myself and trust in God, because I was – from being with my family and living in the same state as my family since undergrad, I always had someone an hour away, as opposed to now, I have a plane ride an hour and a half away, so that was definitely difficult. I was not ready for that at all because I’m typically like a free-spirited, I’ll do anything, go anywhere, live anywhere, but it did take me some time to acclimate.

What advice would you give your younger self?
I would say that it’s okay to fail. That’s something that I had to learn the hard way. But it’s okay to fail.

How would you describe your first quarter in three words?
Challenging, exciting and new.

My 1st Quarter is a new campaign featuring students who are currently within or who just finished their 1st quarter of studies at Life University. All University students (undergraduates, graduates and D.C.) are encouraged to share their experiences in order to help those in future incoming classes get a real-life glimpse of what they can expect as they start a new chapter of their education journeys at LIFE.
