Director of Engagement and Career Services

ā€œEmpowering Futures Through Lasting Purposeā€

In the dynamic tapestry of Life University (Life U), there exists a role that encapsulates the very essence of student growth and development, showcasing Life Uā€™s Lasting Purpose. Meet Samantha Clark, the Director of Engagement and Career Services, whose journey intertwines seamlessly with the heartbeat of our institution.

Clarkā€™s most recent role is a unique amalgamation, born out of a realization that the intersection of student engagement and career services is where the magic truly happens. With a deep-rooted passion for nurturing the holistic development of students, her journey at Life U began as the head coach of the womenā€™s soccer program. For over five years, Clark poured her heart into fostering not just athletes, but well-rounded individuals primed for success beyond the field.

ā€œI started out building the womenā€™s soccer program, and we had a lot of success. Our students were, they were brilliant students, they were busy students, they were active in the community, they were doing all the other things,ā€ shared Clark.

Transitioning from Athletics to Student Affairs, Clarkā€™s trajectory was marked by a relentless pursuit of aligning her passions with her profession. As she delved into the realm of Career Services, a vision began to grow ā€“ a vision where student engagement effortlessly meshed with career development, showcasing Lasting Purpose and the mission of Life U.

Central to Clarkā€™s philosophy is the belief in empowering students to unearth their true potential. Through initiatives like the Leadership DNA program, rooted in the principles of Clifton Strengths Finder, she guides students on the transformative journey of self-discovery. By shifting the focus from fixing weaknesses to amplifying strengths, Clark fosters a culture of positivity and self-affirmation, where students are celebrated for who they are.

ā€œIā€™m really focused on getting our Leadership DNA Program up and running. Itā€™s a three-phase program based out of Clifton Strength Finders. Iā€™m currently working with nearly 70 students, and we just launched that Week 1,ā€ explained Clark. ā€œThe students are really enthusiastic about learning more about themselves. But I think as a university, once we know what our students want and who they are, I think that helps us know how we interact, how we engage with them and how we give them what they need to be successful here.ā€

Beyond the confines of her role, Clark embodies the spirit of community and connection that defines Life U. With her infectious energy and unwavering dedication, she forges meaningful relationships not just with students but with colleagues alike. In a small university setting, Clarkā€™s impact reverberates far beyond her title, as she becomes the go-to person for students seeking guidance and support.

Yet, amidst her professional endeavors, Clark finds solace and strength in her family ā€“ a constant source of inspiration and grounding. With her wife pursuing a career in speech pathology and their seven-year-old son by her side, she finds balance between her roles at home and at the University, each complimenting the other in a harmonious symphony of life.

At Life U, with each interaction, with each program, Clark leaves an indelible mark on the fabric of our institution, shaping the narrative of student success one engagement at a time.
