CHAMPIONS ONCE MORE! LIFE UNIVERSITY MEN’S RUGBY REPEATS AS D1A NATIONAL CHAMPIONS

Santa Clara, California, May 6, 2019 – In a rematch of last year’s D1A Rugby National Championship, the Life University Running Eagles faced the Cal Berkeley Golden Bears for the title. The match came down to the final seconds, as Life U emerged victorious to claim back-to-back titles over Cal by a 29-26 final score. This marks the fourth D1A title for Life U Men’s squad in the last seven years.

Marietta, Georgia, May 3, 2019 – For the seventh consecutive year, Life University’s (LIFE’s) Varsity Men’s Rugby team will play in the USA Rugby Men’s D1A National Championship. LIFE will face off with the University of California, Berkeley (UC Berkeley) in Santa Clara, California, hosted by Santa Clara University, on May 4, 2019 at 6:00 p.m. PST/9:00 p.m. EST for the championship game. This will serve as a rematch of last year’s title game, which saw Life University defeat UC Berkeley by a 60-5 final score for its third championship in the last six years.

Marietta, Georgia, April 15, 2019 – Dr. Mark Kovacs, the Director of the LIFE Sport Science Institute (LSSI) and Associate Professor in the Department of Sport Health Science at Life University (LIFE), was invited to be the content expert for the Team Physician Consensus Document on the topic of β€œLoad, Overload and Recovery Issues in the Athlete.” This is the 19th year of this prestigious event that culminates in a consensus document utilized by Team Physicians, nationally and internationally, working with athletes at all levels of sport.

LIFE UNIVERSITY WOMEN’S WRESTLING FINISHES SEVENTH AT NAIA NATIONALS – CROWNS THREE ALL-AMERICANS

Jamestown, North Dakota, March 22, 2019 – The Life University Women’s Wrestling team finished seventh at the 2019 NAIA Women’s Wrestling Invitational, as the program crowned its first three All-Americans.

The 2018-2019 competition season marked a historic milestone for women’s wrestling in the United States. The NAIA introduced women’s wrestling as an invitational sport, marking the first time a collegiate governing body officially recognized women’s wrestling as a sport.

SWIMMING CROWNS FIVE ALL-AMERICANS AT NAIA CHAMPIONSHIPS

Columbus, Georgia, March 8, 2019 – The Life University men’s and women’s swim teams have capped off another stellar season, continuing their rise in NAIA Swimming. With a program best ten swimmers qualifying for nationals this year, the men’s team finished 15th overall, while the women finished 16th.
