Faces of LIFE – Stan Pierce, Jr., D.C.
CEO, EPIC Clinics, Life University Alumnus

“One EPIC Chiropractor”

Dr. Stan Pierce, Jr., D.C., is a fourth-generation chiropractor, the CEO of EPIC Clinics and Lead Instructor for the EPIC Technique Spinal Procedure. The name EPIC is an acronym for Evolutionary Percussive Instrument Correction. Dr. Pierce was born and raised in St. Petersburg, Florida and now lives in Clearwater, Florida. He has four children.

Dr. Pierce graduated from Life University (Life U) in 1999 with a Doctor of Chiropractic degree and a B.S. in Nutrition. He is the only chiropractor published in the Orthopedic and Rheumatology Open Access Journal, with his article appearing in the publication last year.

“My degree in Nutrition from Life University enabled me to have increased credibility, and I have lectured in London, Dubai, Mexico and all over the United States,” Dr. Pierce said.

He also had the opportunity to speak about the chiropractic message to a crowd of 25,000 people and has received the Chiropractor of the Year Award from the International Chiropractors Association (ICA).

EPIC Clinics is the brainchild of Dr. Pierce and was born from his passion to do better. “I have something to solve. All chiropractic students are going to learn different adjustment techniques with no proven results. The discipline of our EPIC protocols requires that they are followed,” said Dr. Pierce. “Whoever uses the EPIC system must sign a contract and follow all protocols. We wanted our biggest passion besides patient outcome to also be new graduate success in a subluxation base model of care. We wanted to create a job placement program. That placement could be, ‘I just want to be a clinician and not own a business, or I want to work to own the business or purchase outright’.”

Dr. Pierce discussed his upcoming Chiropractic Assembly to be held Thursday, February 24, 2022 in the Lower/Main Gym of the Center for Athletics and Sport Health Science (SHS). Some of the topics he will be sharing with Life University D.C. students relate to the importance of, and details about, the neurovascular intricacies of the upper neck and how that matters in today’s health care.

“This discussion will be an important one for students; it is a really big one,”, said Dr. Pierce.

Other topics on the agenda at Assembly include the upper neck alignment and its relationship to brain health. “I will directly show how when the upper neck is out of alignment, brain health is affected and how I am working to move the profession toward the importance of brain health.”

Dr. Pierce says that EPIC is the only company who has created a measurable standard of care, and he wants to help students realize that Chiropractic is split between techniques that specialize in upper neck techniques or work on the full spine. “Students are put in a position to pick one or the other. EPIC has brought leaders of multiple techniques together for technique collaboration,” Dr. Pierce explained.

He currently teaches the EPIC Technique Spinal Procedure Course at Life University. He also teaches at Sherman College of Chiropractic and Life Chiropractic College West. “I have always been someone who challenges the status quo—always asking lots of questions. I realize that there was a huge passion for chiropractic philosophy and a huge respect of the history but not a lot of emphasis on the future of Chiropractic. My mind is constantly in the future with innovations and results for the future. My primary role model is Elon Musk,” noted Dr. Pierce.

Dr. Pierce’s original decision to attend Life University was born out of his passion to play soccer. “I went to Life University to play soccer, not to become a chiropractor,” he said. Then Dr. John Downes, currently Life U Vice President for Global Initiatives and Dr. Pierce’s chiropractor when he was a student, took care of him. That experience changed his life.

“Dr. Downes adjusted my knee, and six months of agony was gone in two days,” Dr. Pierce said. Of his overall experience at Life U, Dr. Pierce said, “I had the best time at Life University. I loved Dr. Sid Williams and knew his family.”

Dr. Pierce’s favorite quote and words of wisdom is this: “The secret of change is to focus all of your energy not on fighting the old, but on building the new,” which is from the 1980 book titled “Way of the Peaceful Warrior” by Dan Millman.

He wants students to “remember to have an open mind about challenges, ask the hard questions and never stop challenging so we can get better.”
