LIFE UNIVERSITY ATHLETIC DEPARTMENT HAS RECORD 39 STUDENT-ATHLETES RECOGNIZED BY MID-SOUTH CONFERENCE FOR FALL 2019 ACADEMICS
Marietta, Georgia, December 3, 2019 – The Life University Athletic Department celebrated a record number of fall student-athletes who were recognized by the Mid-South Conference with Academic All-Conference honors. A department-high 39 received recognition.
WORLD TEAM MEMBER VICTORIA FRANCIS TO JOIN LIFE U COACHING STAFF THROUGH THE WOMEN’S SPORTS FOUNDATION TARA VANDERVEER FUND
Marietta, Georgia, September 10, 2019 – Life University has received a Tara VanDerveer Fund for the Advancement of Women in Coaching grant from the Women’s Sports Foundation (WSF). Grants were awarded to institutions to support collegiate female coaches on the rise, assisting with living expenses, professional development and mentorship. Life University is one of 10 universities and colleges to receive the grant, which will be designated for a female coaching fellow in women’s sports as diverse as field hockey, wrestling, basketball, volleyball, softball, and strength and conditioning.
LIFE UNIVERSITY ANNOUNCES INAUGURAL HALL OF FAME INDUCTION CLASS
Marietta, Georgia, August 16, 2019 – Life University Athletics has announced its inaugural Hall of Fame class that features five prominent alumni Friday morning, August 16.
The first class will feature Roger Kaiser (MBKB), Mike Spino (MXC, MT&F), Silah Misoi (MXC, MT&F), Zoila Stewart (WXC, WT&F) and Gary Lambert (MRUGBY).
LIFE UNIVERSITY ALUMNI HARLEY WHEELER AND CODY MELPHY TO REPRESENT U.S.A. AT 2019 PAN AMERICAN GAMES
Chula Vista, California, June 28, 2019 – USA Rugby announced the 12 players selected to the 2019 U.S. Pan American Games Men’s Sevens team earlier in the week, with Life University alumni Harley Wheeler (2019) and Cody Melphy (2017) both being chosen for the squad. Wheeler will be making his national team debut, while Melphy is already a senior player and will serve as captain.
CHAMPIONS! LIFE UNIVERSITY MEN’S CLUB RUGBY CAPTURES D1 CLUB NATIONAL TITLE
Fortress Obetz, Ohio, June 5, 2019 – The Life University men’s club rugby team defeated the Austin Blacks in the D1 Club National Championship 28-27 over the weekend. Both teams battled in the early minutes, as Sam Cowley put points on the board first to give Life U an early 3-0 lead 18 minutes into the game. Zac Mizell scored a try five minutes later with a successful conversion from Cowley to put the Running Eagles ahead 10-0.
CHAMPIONS ONCE MORE! LIFE UNIVERSITY MEN’S RUGBY REPEATS AS D1A NATIONAL CHAMPIONS
Santa Clara, California, May 6, 2019 – In a rematch of last year’s D1A Rugby National Championship, the Life University Running Eagles faced the Cal Berkeley Golden Bears for the title. The match came down to the final seconds, as Life U emerged victorious to claim back-to-back titles over Cal by a 29-26 final score. This marks the fourth D1A title for Life U Men’s squad in the last seven years.

Marietta, Georgia, May 3, 2019 – For the seventh consecutive year, Life University’s (LIFE’s) Varsity Men’s Rugby team will play in the USA Rugby Men’s D1A National Championship. LIFE will face off with the University of California, Berkeley (UC Berkeley) in Santa Clara, California, hosted by Santa Clara University, on May 4, 2019 at 6:00 p.m. PST/9:00 p.m. EST for the championship game. This will serve as a rematch of last year’s title game, which saw Life University defeat UC Berkeley by a 60-5 final score for its third championship in the last six years.

Greensville, South Carolina, March 26, 2019 – The Life University Women’s Rugby team held on to defeat Penn State 34-31 in the D1 Elite Semifinal Sunday afternoon, March 24, to advance to the national championship for the second consecutive year.
LIFE UNIVERSITY WOMEN’S WRESTLING FINISHES SEVENTH AT NAIA NATIONALS – CROWNS THREE ALL-AMERICANS
Jamestown, North Dakota, March 22, 2019 – The Life University Women’s Wrestling team finished seventh at the 2019 NAIA Women’s Wrestling Invitational, as the program crowned its first three All-Americans.
The 2018-2019 competition season marked a historic milestone for women’s wrestling in the United States. The NAIA introduced women’s wrestling as an invitational sport, marking the first time a collegiate governing body officially recognized women’s wrestling as a sport.
SWIMMING CROWNS FIVE ALL-AMERICANS AT NAIA CHAMPIONSHIPS
Columbus, Georgia, March 8, 2019 – The Life University men’s and women’s swim teams have capped off another stellar season, continuing their rise in NAIA Swimming. With a program best ten swimmers qualifying for nationals this year, the men’s team finished 15th overall, while the women finished 16th.
