Today we connect with Rachel Reeves, Life U’s charismatic Director of Enrollment Events and Tours. Reeves came to Life U a little over four years ago right after graduation from Kennesaw State University with a bachelor’s degree in business administration, and a focus in management. As the Director of Enrollment Events and Tours, Reeves brings her passion for community, event planning and relationship-building to her role. Her time in college was marked by active involvement in various activities and leadership roles, which laid a solid foundation for her professional career.
Life U has been a significant part of her life since joining us. She began her journey as a tour guide and progressively moved up to senior coordinator before taking on her current role as director. Reeves’ choice to work at Life U was driven by her love for a close-knit community and the opportunity to build and maintain relationships, something she finds unique to the university environment.
Reeves finds the work culture at Life U second to none. The ability to connect with colleagues across different departments, the vitalistic approach and the mission of Lasting Purpose are the unique values that drew her to the University. Life U’s mission and values are why Reeves uses her business degree in higher education rather than following a corporate career path. Reeves’ personality and passion for relationship-building made Life U the perfect fit for her.
“I could have gone straight corporate, as I obviously have a business degree, but I just have the personality of someone that just wants to build and maintain relationships,” shared Reeves.
Outside of her professional life, Reeves is an event planner at heart. She loves organizing events for her friends, hosting adult field days and working with her church. Her enthusiasm for trying new activities, whether it’s exploring new restaurants, roller skating or engaging in outdoor adventures, reflects her vibrant and active personality.
Reeves is a true Georgia native, having lived in Georgia her entire life. She grew up in Woodstock and has gradually moved closer to Atlanta over the years. Her mother’s background in magazine work and event planning, along with her brother’s career in IT, have influenced and supported her journey.
For Reeves, no two days at Life U are the same. Her schedule varies depending on whether it’s a tour day or an event day. Tours are typically held on Mondays, Wednesdays and Fridays, while Tuesdays and Thursdays are often dedicated to planning and preparation for upcoming events like Eagle Madness and Life Leadership Weekend. Organization and communication are key to her role, ensuring every detail is meticulously planned and executed.
Reeves’s journey at Life U has taught her the importance of building something personal and making it her own. She encourages others to pursue their passions, take ownership of their projects and strive for continuous growth. Reeves is grateful for the support she has received from Life U faculty and staff, which has allowed her to innovate and bring new ideas to fruition, like the revamping of the Eagle Madness event.
“If I wanted to give motivation to someone, it’s build something out that you’re really passionate about,” said Reeves. “And just go hard, hit the ground running, do it. Life U has really given me a lot of leeway in what I want to do. They see me as somebody that has great ideas.”
Rachel Reeves exemplifies dedication, passion and community spirit. Her journey at Life U is a testament to the opportunities the University provides for personal and professional growth. Through her role, Reeves continues to contribute to the vibrant and welcoming atmosphere that makes Life U a special place for students and staff alike.
