“Embracing Passion and Purpose: A Glimpse into the Life of Christy Shepherd at Life University”
In every institution, there are individuals whose dedication and passion shine through, illuminating the path for others. At Life University (Life U), Christy Shepherd embodies this spirit of unwavering commitment and enthusiasm. As a Regional Admissions Counselor, Shepherd’s journey is not just about recruitment; it’s about sharing her profound belief in chiropractic care and the transformative power of education.
Originally hailing from Mississippi, Shepherd’s journey into the world of higher education was unexpected. Armed with a master’s degree in criminal justice from the University of Mississippi, her career trajectory took a surprising turn when she found herself drawn to the realm of academia. It was during this time that fate intervened, leading her to Life U.
For Shepherd, Life U wasn’t just another institution; it was a revelation. The university’s mission resonated deeply with her values, particularly as a devoted advocate of chiropractic care. Growing up with scoliosis, Shepherd experienced firsthand the life-changing impact of chiropractic care. This personal connection fueled her passion for the field and solidified her dedication to helping others discover its benefits.
Shepherd began her journey with Life U in 2018, bringing passion and expertise to her role as a Regional Admissions Counselor. Despite the geographical distance, her commitment to serving prospective students remains unwavering. Through webinars and outreach efforts, she acts as a guiding light, offering invaluable insights into the world of chiropractic care and the opportunities that await prospective students at Life U.
“It doesn’t feel like work to me because I actually get to do this. I’m blessed enough to get to do something that I’m extremely passionate about, so it never feels like work. I feel excited every single day,” said Shepherd.
What sets Shepherd apart is not just her professional diligence, but also her genuine desire to empower others. Her approach isn’t about selling a product but about fostering understanding and providing resources for informed decision-making. Whether it’s discussing chiropractic neurology or pediatric care, her goal remains constant: to equip students with the knowledge they need to embark on their educational journey confidently.
Beyond the confines of her job description, Shepherd’s work is infused with a profound sense of purpose. For her, working at Life U isn’t simply a job; it’s a calling—a chance to channel her passion into meaningful action. Every day brings new opportunities to make a difference, whether it’s guiding a prospective student or nurturing her own daughter.
Reflecting on her experience, Shepherd acknowledges the immense privilege of pursuing her passion. To her, the work she does isn’t a burden but a source of joy and fulfillment. It’s a reminder that when one aligns their vocation with their values, work transcends mere obligation, becoming a source of boundless enthusiasm and purpose.
“When I think about my job […], Life University is so much bigger than all of us. It’s not just a school, it’s not just a [Doctor of Chiropractic] program or undergraduate programs. It is truly the education, the mission and the message of Chiropractic that can change the world. And Life University is just the avenue that we hope that most prospective students will use for that message. So, this is not just a school; it is life changing for the entire world,” said Shepherd.
