Marietta, Georgia, January 10, 2019 – Chase Zemenak from the Life University men’s wrestling team was named the NAIA Men’s Wrestler of the Week based on his performance from December 31 to January 6 the league office announced Wednesday afternoon, January 9. He is the second wrestler in program history to receive this honor. Below are the results from his 4-0 efforts at the NWCA National Duals:

Zemenak led the Running Eagles to a second-place finish at the NWCA National Duals. In his first matches of the year, he recorded five points for the team in the win over No. 17 Baker (Kan.), as well as four points in the major decision against No. 4 Providence (Mont.). One of his biggest wins of the weekend happened in the upset of No. 2 Indiana Tech, where Zemenak pinned his opponent, who was ranked fourth in the division, to earn six points for the Running Eagles. He capped off his weekend with an upset win over No. 3 Eric Clarke 5-3 from Grand View.
Facing only one opponent who was not ranked, Zemenak himself recorded three upset victories to lead Life University to its highest placing ever at the NWCA National Duals. Zemenak and the No. 7 nationally-ranked men’s wrestling team will return to action on Saturday, January 19, when they travel to Lakeland, Florida to face No. 13 Southeastern University in a Mid-South Conference matchup at 1:00 p.m.
