The time has come when the leaves start to bud. The flowers will begin to bloom, and the sun will shine brighter each day. Spring is here, and it’s time to “spring into fitness.”
It’s a great time to go out in nature and enjoy all the beautiful things and surroundings. Try to accomplish three to five days of light to moderately vigorous exercise each week. My top three things to do outdoors in the spring are listed below:
- Take long walks:
- 80% percent of people who hire a coach/personal trainer achieve the goal they have set for themselves.
- Exercise in the park
- No different than a hair, nail, doctor or dentist appointment, we are scheduled with someone who can hold us accountable. People sharpen people like iron sharpens iron.
- Outdoor meditation:
- This takes discipline. We become a product of the environment that we place ourselves in. If you have a health club membership, use it! And of course, visit the Life University Fitness Center.
In closing, be sure to stay hydrated. A general rule of thumb is to drink half your bodyweight in ounces (i.e., preferably water). Also, fruits are a great source of hydrated foods, so be sure to get two to three servings of fruit daily. Remember that whenever you start to feel thirsty, your body is already in need of water; so, stay hydrated by drinking water throughout the day.
