Life University Women’s Rugby Claims 2026 CRAA Division I National Championship with Dominant Win Over BYU
Sacramento, California — April 13, 2026 — Life University’s (Life U) Women’s Rugby team claimed the CRAA Division I XVs National Championship on April 11, defeating BYU 40–14 at Heart Health Park.

Faces of Life U: Brooklyn Vaifanua
Originally from Carson, California, Brooklyn Vanifanua came to Life University (Life U) ready to play. She is an esteemed member of the Life U Women’s Rugby team, performing the position of blindside flanker.
Faces of Life U- Adrianna Langley
Prior to high school, soccer had been the focus of Langley’s athletic world until she discovered rugby her freshman year.
“I just fell in love with [Rugby],” Langley said.
Faces of LIFE: Liberty Benitez
As a freshman student-athlete on the Life U Women’s Rugby team, Liberty Benitez felt that sense of closeness and camaraderie as she began her first collegiate season. During training, the new players began practicing a few weeks before returning players, so it helped give newbies time to work more closely with Head Coach Ryszard Chadwick while also getting the chance to learn from upperclassmen players as they headed into the 2023-2024 15s season.

Marietta, Georgia – July 30, 2024 – Life University proudly celebrates the outstanding achievement of alumna Alexandria “Spiff” Sedrick, whose heroics on the field today led Team USA to its first-ever medal in Women’s Rugby at the 2024 Summer Olympics in Paris, France.
Faces of LIFE: Coach Ryszard “Rys” Chadwick
Ryszard “Rys” Chadwick is the Head Coach of the Women’s Rugby Program at Life University. He joined Life U in August 2022 and has since been an influential figure in the program.
Faces of LIFE: Madelyn Jennings
M.S. in Sport Health Science student, Life U Women’s Rugby player. “Always part of a team”. Just a hop, skip and jump away from New Orleans sits Slidell, Louisiana, the cozy home of Madelyn Jennings. Jennings and her sister Gabrielle grew up on a steady stream of sports, with many of their classmates filling out multiple team rosters due to the lack of numbers in their tiny school. Their parents encouraged them “to pursue new sports and try new things.”

Phoenix, Arizona – April 16, 2024 – Sunday evening, the Life University Women’s Rugby team made history by earning a hard-fought victory over long-standing rival Lindenwood University to be crowned the D1 Elite National Champions for the first time in program history.
