Starting on April 1 (April Fools’ Day) might seem like an unusual date to begin a significant new role, but for Cedric Gaddy, it marked the start of an exciting new chapter as the Chief Financial Officer (CFO) at Life University. With a career that spans over two decades in finance and operations, Gaddy brings a wealth of experience from prestigious institutions, including Columbia University and Brooklyn Bridge Park, to Life University (Life U).
The Rodent Race of Research and Chiropractic Implications with Dorothy Trent- Podcast Research Series
Dorothy Trent is a chiropractic student and RISE scholar who caught the research bug after taking a research-based class and presenting in the college’s research symposium. Today she discusses her experiences with her most recent research project comparing the C1 spinal vertebrae of rats to humans related to locomotion, which so far points to scientifically significant similarity. She recently presented on the project at the 85th Association of Southeastern Biologists (ASB) in Chattanooga, TN.

Faces of LIFE: Liberty Benitez
As a freshman student-athlete on the Life U Women’s Rugby team, Liberty Benitez felt that sense of closeness and camaraderie as she began her first collegiate season. During training, the new players began practicing a few weeks before returning players, so it helped give newbies time to work more closely with Head Coach Ryszard Chadwick while also getting the chance to learn from upperclassmen players as they headed into the 2023-2024 15s season.

Ryszard “Rys” Chadwick is the Head Coach of the Women’s Rugby Program at Life University. He joined Life U in August 2022 and has since been an influential figure in the program.
Enfranchising Cross Disciplinary Research with Dr. Alan Wells – Podcast Research Series
Dr. Alan Wells is the Assistant Dean of Liberal Studies at Life University (Life U) as well as an essential member of the Research Council. Research is often framed in the context of math and science endeavors, but a fair amount of business and interdisciplinary projects are also conducted here at Life U. Dr. Wells weighs in on some of the periodic considerations that go into preparing a student to start or continue a project, as well as how funding decisions are made. Faces of LIFE: Madelyn Jennings
M.S. in Sport Health Science student, Life U Women’s Rugby player. “Always part of a team”. Just a hop, skip and jump away from New Orleans sits Slidell, Louisiana, the cozy home of Madelyn Jennings. Jennings and her sister Gabrielle grew up on a steady stream of sports, with many of their classmates filling out multiple team rosters due to the lack of numbers in their tiny school. Their parents encouraged them “to pursue new sports and try new things.”
Student Clinics and Volunteering to Educate Communities, with Joshua Gutkin – Podcast
Joshua Gutkin is a D.C. student and Student Clinician who is maximizing his time while working in a protected Life University clinic environment to build up his soft skills of connecting with the community and communicating effectively the benefits of chiropractic. His main method of doing this is by volunteering with Life Chiropractic Centers at table events in the Metro Atlanta area to spread the message of chiropractic and inform community members about how they can make appointments.
Faces of LIFE: Dr. Rebecca Lapham-Yaun
In 2006, Dr. Lapham-Yaun joined the ranks of the D.C. program at Life University (Life U) and graduated in 2010. During her time as a student, she worked as a Supplemental Instruction (SI) leader, a role since renamed PAL (Peer-Assisted Learning).
“I think that’s what kind of got me into teaching,” Dr. Lapham-Yaun noted.
