Marietta, Georgia -November 22 – Life University (Life U) is proud to announce that two distinguished alumni, Drs. Karen Mathiak and Anissa Jones, were elected to the Georgia House of Representatives in the November 5 election. Both graduates of Life University’s College of Chiropractic, Drs. Mathiak and Jones exemplify leadership, dedication to health care and a commitment to public service.

Dr. Mathiak, a member of the Georgia House of Representatives since 2016, was re-elected to represent Georgia’s 82nd District, which includes Spalding and Fayette counties. A 1984 graduate of Life U, Dr. Mathiak attributes her political priorities to her foundational education at the University. Through her legislative role, she has been a staunch advocate for improving healthcare accessibility, particularly in rural and underserved areas. In addition to her legislative responsibilities, Dr. Mathiak continues her practice at Mathiak Chiropractic Center in Griffin, Georgia.

Newly elected to Georgia’s 143rd District, Dr. Anissa Jones brings fresh leadership to the state legislature, representing parts of Macon and Warner Robins. A 1998 graduate of Life U, Dr. Jones has a longstanding commitment to education, healthcare access and economic development. Her career has been marked by her dedication to equitable policies that improve the quality of life for her constituents. Dr. Jones is the founder of Middle Georgia Disc Center in Macon, where she continues to serve her community as a practicing chiropractor.

Drs. Mathiak and Jones also serve on the Board of Trustees of the Georgia Chiropractic Association (GCA), furthering their commitment to advancing chiropractic care and advocating for healthcare policy improvements. Dr. Mathiak additionally serves on the Life University Alumni Association Board of Directors, reinforcing her connection to her alma mater.

In support of their campaigns, Life University alumni and fellow chiropractors rallied at fundraising events organized by members of the chiropractic community. The Georgia Chiropractic Association PAC also played a pivotal role in their successful election bids, reflecting the collective effort to support leaders who embody the values of holistic health care and public service.
