Shanghai, China –November 15, 2024 – Life University (Life U) proudly announces its role as a co-sponsor of the 2nd China International Chiropractic and Spinal Health Summit, held on November 2-3, 2024, in Shanghai, China. The two-day event brought together over 200 healthcare professionals, chiropractic students and prospective students from diverse disciplines, with an additional virtual audience of nearly 40,000 worldwide.
The Summit was co-sponsored by Life U and the International Chiropractors Association (ICA) and featured leading experts who shared insights into the latest advancements in chiropractic care and spinal health. Stephen Welsh, D.C., (Life U ’96), Past President of the ICA, welcomed attendees with an inspiring opening address, setting the stage for a weekend focused on interdisciplinary learning and the integration of chiropractic science into modern health care.
Among the distinguished presenters was Peng Li, D.C. (Life U ’12), Executive Director for Life Global Initiatives China-Asia and President of the Chiropractic Association of China (CAC). Serving as Emcee and translator, Dr. Li presented on “The Impact of Chiropractic on Athletic Performance,” drawing from his experience working with Chinese Olympians – a contribution that has helped bring global recognition to Life U and the field of Chiropractic.
Other Life U alumni and faculty highlighted at the Summit included Yue Hou, D.C. (Life U ’21), Executive Director of the Department of Chiropractic at West China Hospital and faculty member at Sichuan University. Dr. Hou explored the “Application of Chiropractic Science in Multidisciplinary Fields,” while Michael Longyear, D.C., DACNB, former Director of Life U’s NeuroLIFE Institute, presented on “Posture and the Brain” and led an “Intro to Functional Neurology” workshop.
Further sessions featured John Downes, D.C., Life U’s Vice President for Institutional Initiatives, who presented on “Neuromechanics and Spinal Health”; Lora Tanis, D.C., President of the ICA Pediatric Council, who presented a case study on “Occipital Anatomy and Subluxation in Infants, Improving Clinical Outcomes.” Dr. Imran Khan Niazi from New Zealand Chiropractic College and Haavik Research Center contributed his expertise with a session on “Advances in Neuroscience: Modern Neuroplasticity Perspective on Pain and Chiropractic Care.”
Traditional Chinese Medicine and medical experts rounded out the program with case studies that emphasized the integration of spinal and neurological care in treating spinal diseases, spondylosis and other conditions. The Summit reflects Life U’s commitment to advancing global chiropractic education and interdisciplinary healthcare initiatives.
