Chiropractic and the U.S. Military: An Evolving Healing Journey
Chiropractic as a profession has had to fight for recognized legitimacy and inclusion into the larger healthcare system since D.D. Palmer performed the first adjustment in 1895. Luckily for the evolution of holistic health, the chiropractic profession has progressed in the general lexicon leaps and bounds since then. One of the most profound and public examples of chiropractic’s acceptance has been the profession’s long-standing partnership with the U.S. Military.

Repetitive Strain Injury and Chiropractic Relief
Maybe you’re a bassist who gets an intense twinge in the wrist after a long day of practice. It could be you are a world-class tennis player whose elbows shout in pain with every swing. Or perhaps you work on an industrial assembly line day in and day out, working and stressing the same muscles continuously. All these scenarios are a recipe for repetitive strain injury.
Faces of Life: Taylor Alexander
Technically, Taylor Alexander’s journey to Chiropractic began before she was born. Her mother received adjustments while she was pregnant, and Alexander received intermittent adjustments as a teenager. Yet, the lightbulb moment occurred at age 15 when she received a “miracle adjustment” that changed her whole perception on the power of Chiropractic.
Active on Activator and its efficacy with Dr. Laura Huber – Podcast
Dr. Laura Huber, Life U Chiropractic Sciences Professor, went from being a non-believer to something of a trumpeter for the virtues of the Activator tool for chiropractic adjustments. By nature and by design, chiropractic is literally very hands-on to feel and understand what subluxations may be present in the body in order to deliver healing adjustments. Therefore, some chiropractors are weary of using tools such as an Activator to deliver an adjustment. However, Dr. Huber explains that its gentle nature and consistency in terms of type of force delivered can benefit patients immensely.
Recognizing Good Posture
Good and proper posture puts our bodies in a solid position to promote long-lasting health and well-being. For the average person just going about their day, posture is probably the last thing on their mind if at all because many of us are not in tune with our body’s movements. It’s about more than simply sitting up straight and investing in an ergonomic desk chair. A little self-awareness can go a long way to protecting the spine and preventing back pain, as well as improving athletic performance, vitality, coordination and breathing.
The Rodent Race of Research and Chiropractic Implications with Dorothy Trent- Podcast Research Series
Dorothy Trent is a chiropractic student and RISE scholar who caught the research bug after taking a research-based class and presenting in the college’s research symposium. Today she discusses her experiences with her most recent research project comparing the C1 spinal vertebrae of rats to humans related to locomotion, which so far points to scientifically significant similarity. She recently presented on the project at the 85th Association of Southeastern Biologists (ASB) in Chattanooga, TN.
The Chiropractic Patient Acquisition Cycle – Learn it, Love it, Master it
Chiropractic students can often develop tunnel vision, hyper tuned into learning the fine points of the art of the adjustment. Of course, the mechanical aspects of what a future Doctor of Chiropractic performs in a chiropractic adjustment is paramount, but it won’t matter if they don’t know how to get patients through the door and retain them. Here at Life University (Life U), chiropractic students in clinics are responsible for acquiring their own patient load because it helps them develop the interpersonal skills necessary to establish and run a successful practice.

Sacro-Occipital (SOT): Wizardry or Just Good Technique? with Dr. Jerry Hochman- Podcast
There are so many popular and emerging Chiropractic techniques on display at Life University. One such technique that perhaps does not get as much attention as the others is Sacro-Occipital Technique (SOT). This technique hones in on two key areas of the body believed to serve as key places to pay attention to to promote healing: the sacrum (section near/surrounding the tailbone) and the occiput (the back of the head). It is something of a top to bottom approach, from the start of the spine to end essentially.
