Srdjan Popovich’s hometown of Belegrade. Serbia is something of a hub connecting much of the eastern and western world together. Perhaps beckoned by a sense of adventure and continuing that tradition of cultural exchange, Popovich sought to take his athletic talents in basketball to propel him into a collegiate career in America.

Minnesota native James Watson grew up with a happy, active family life full of constant activities and sports. Nothing seemed to slow him down until a knee injury in seventh grade that led to a full open-knee surgery.

Born the youngest of three, Anna Payne grew up in small town Detroit Lakes, Minnesota. Though she might not have known it, her journey toward a chiropractic career began early on.
Faces of Life U: Antonio Nelson
Nelson makes the most out of the opportunity to study as an international student in Life U’s Doctor of Chiropractic program, the first in his family to study abroad. Prior to Life U, Nelson obtained a B.S. in Exercise Science from Shaw University in Raleigh, North Carolina. Chiropractic school was a natural next step in his professional journey, and he wanted to set an example for his younger siblings.

“I have always loved telling stories, even before I could read. I would line up my toys and tell stories about them. So, I always wanted to be a writer when I grew up,” Butler said.
Faces of Life: Sara Diaz
As the youngest of five siblings, Sara Diaz probably learned early on about the dynamics of a team, the little team that is her family unit. Her parents are Puerto Rican natives with three kids born in Puerto Rico before moving stateside and giving birth to her older sister and herself in Georgia.
Faces of Life: Maria Encarnacion
Though born in the U.S. Virgin Islands, Maria Encarnacion grew up in Jacksonville, Florida attending performing arts schools. Music and dance were formative influences in her early life, as she played cello in addition to learning dance and ballet.
